Auto Mount of sda5 in Ubuntu System

This time I formatted the second hard disk partition(fat32).The problem was that when I entered into Ubuntu again, the system can't auto mount sda5 and of course there wasn't any sda5 icon on desktop.I had to mount sda5 manually. What's worse,I didn't know how to copy files between Windows-systemic partition and Linux-systemic partition because there were always some errors or warnings.
Several reboots later,I found that the system could auto mount that partition but partition label is "disk" not "sda5" as before.
Finally,I searched on the Internet and happened to see a post.It is from this post that I got some information and resolved this problem. Now share with others.
UUID is the abbreviation for Universally Unique Identifier which is actually unique time and space. And coincidentally,Ubuntu system uses UUID to represent hard disk partition by default. My formation of partition sda5 changed the UUID of sda5.Thus the system couldn't recognize this partition any more. The author of this post said that UUID wouldn't change only if the partition size was changed. But I just didn't change the size of sda5.What I did was a partition formatting after a ghost failure and a disk space loss.
As he/she said,I checked the UUID of every partition with this command:
ls -al /dev/disk/by-uuid
Then edited /etc/fstab and modified UUID of sda5.
The last step was reboot my computer and enjoy a Ubuntu system with auto-mount function!

About VMware Installation

During the installation of VMware,it asked like this:
"What is the location of the directory of C header files that match your running
kernel? "I have installed VMware in my computer before but unfortunately I forgot how to resolve it.
Choosing the default directory,it said"The path "/usr/src/linux/include" is not an existing directory".
I find directory "include" and none of the results worked.
I thought that "vmware-any-any-update" patch can resolve although I've never used before, but it can't.
Searching on the Internet,I installed "kernel-sources" and "kernel-headers",but it said:
"the path "/usr/src/linux/include" is an existing directory ,but it does not c a "linux" subdirectory as expected."
I was very gloomy.
At last,a root-mate told me that "kernel-devel" should be installed. Then the next day I tried and succeeded just using the default directory.VMware Workstation could be started.
After that,I search for the default directory.To my surprise,there wasn't a directory named "***".
However,"/lib/modules/2.6.23.1-21.fc7/build" and /usr/src/kernels/2.6.23.1-21.fc7-i686 did exist.
I guess that VMware installation program need to compile something. So it need to use C libraries and it is just in a directory called "include".So you need to install kernel development tools.Maybe if kernel development tools were chosen when the operation system installation, there wouldn't be such a problem.

后记:
VMware-Workstation-6.5.1-126130.x86_64.rpm安装时不能运行xen,必须在物理机上安装

iGoogle-Make My Own Homepage(NoAds)

Several days ago,I've found a terrific website on Internet. It just make me feel that I've found a lost paradise(without exaggerate).
Several weeks ago,I've got the idea that If you wanna make full use of computer and Internet you should at least accumulate many experiences both from yourself and others. Before that,I experienced a computer crashing. Then I need to copy all my materials to another computer, thus I can set up a new operating system. After the setup I didn't copy my materials back from my classmate's computer immediately.Several days later I found that he delete it.All my materials are gone. The bookmarks I've accumulated, the academic papers I've collected,my favorite music I've downloaded and some useful information in it are all disappeared! This time I've seen the importance of accumulated experiences in the end.I must draw lessons from this experience.
Finally,I've got an idea that I should upload my most important documents on the Internet.I believe that the big company just like Google and Yahoo won't make their clients' materials lost.Maybe five years later,my hard disk suddenly collapsed, but I can still download some most important data from my mailbox,my blog or something like this.
I spent a plenty of time to upload some materials which is of most importance into my Gmailbox. However, does that is all my most important experience?Does my experience is just the data I've uploaded? The answer is absolutely no!Some learned experience must be write down.So I started my blog in Google's blogger.
The most important by-product of the upload and writing my experience the finding of iGoogle.
First,I'd like to clarify that I'm not an advertiser bribed by Google although I'm a firm Google supporter from these days on.(However,if I were the CEO of Google I would give a reward to the author of this blog.)
iGoogle let you can design your own homepage. You can add many gadgets to your homepage as you wish, and there is absolutely no ads. There are thousands of gadgets you can choose from. Many gadgets are designed by Google while most of them are not.Calendars,news,notebooks,to-do lists, bookmarks, weather forecast, dictionaries, the day in history and so forth. You would see boring ads on your own homepage no more and you can place your most important gadgets on the top of the page or the first page.Your maximum page number is six i.e. you can make six pages of your own if you wish.
Maybe you'd think that this is easy because you can develop your own page by HTML or XML.However, the most fantastic of iGoogle is you can get your own homepage with your Google account in any computer in the world.Your bookmarks can be embedded in the page. The to-do list tells you what to do.The notebook records meaningful things you experienced. The news let you login other news websites no more and you just need view news on your own homepage. Thus, you can accumulate your experience and place the useful gadgets on your own pages worrying about losing data no more.Besides, you can write down your ideas on Internet which are also stored on Internet for good. Here I wanna introduce a very useful gadget:Document to PDF.What you need to do is just type out your e-mail address and upload your document to be transformed.Several seconds later open your mailbox and you'll find there is a new mail from pdf@pdf24.org(www.pdf24.org).The appendix is the PDF document you want.
Another useful function of Google account is Google Docs.Google Docs can open and save many kinds of documents. The user even needn't install any software except a operating system with a browser if they wanna either browse a document or create a document. What's more, several people can share one document and edit it at the same time. And they can chatting with each other in the editing environment just like chatting with MSN or QQ.All the documents can stored on the Internet. There is no need to worry about file missing because a big company should assure their customers that their data is safe.At least,it's safer than our own hard disks which will suddenly collapse without any signs.
With all the Internet stored data which is of great importance to me,I feel much more comfortable.
By the way,one of my conclusions is that Google's products are almost all original. It makes me really it's really something new, especially Google Earth, which translate conventional two dimensional maps into a 3 dimensional globe.
In a word,Google is gradually changing our concepts of many things.
(p.s. this is not an ad)

About Online-translation & Browser-add-ons

There are many online dictionaries that make our English learning convenient immensely. Here I'll introduce some online dicts listed bellow briefly.

dict.baidu.com
translate.google.com
www.stardict.org
www.stardict.cn (ajax.php#)
dict.iciba.com/www.iciba.com (kingsoft's powerword)
dictionary.com/dictionary.reference.com (foreign)
dict.cn (domestic)

Speed
Personally I feel dict.cn is the fastest one among them on the domestic educational internet.Translate.google.com is behind it.Dict.baidu.com & www.stardict.cn is behind it.Then comes www.stardict.org.Sometimes dictionary.com may be fast although it's a website abroad.Sometimes dict.iciba.com is very slow.It should be on the public net.
Specialization
1. dictionary.com
Of course, the most professional one is dictionary.com.We can just judge from its name. It's very powerful.Although it cannot translate sentences, thesaurus, encyclopedia and so on are all in it.It provide with examples and can search through many different dictionaries.
Maybe because it is named dictionary.com,it doesn't provide sentence-translation.Besides this,it has almost no disadvantages. If there must be some,no Chinese explanation may be one.
2. translate.google.com
Dictionary.com's counterpart is translate.google.com which is simpler for one word or sentence but can translate everything. There is no "Sorry, there is no..." to google.Google will try its best to answer your questions.Google can translate not only words & expressions but also sentences even some sentences you make by yourself.
One biggest problem is google don't provide with examples.Another is there is one and only one result.
3. dict.baidu.com
As for dict.baidu.com,what I wanna say is just so so although I use it often. The biggest advantage is its fast wire speed on domestic educational network.Besides,it provides with some examples and list all the meanings it has.
But there are many words it can't translate. What's more,it can't translate sentences.
4. www.iciba.com
And www.iciba.com is better than it.It can translate words, expressions and sentences. It's a very professional translation website at home.
The biggest problem is its wire speed on the domestic educational network.
5. dict.cn
The wire speed of dict.cn on domestic educational network is very fast. The word translation of dict.cn is powerful.
But it can only translate words.
6. stardict
Finally I wanna give some comment to stardcit.cn/stardict.org.If you registered at the website, you can choose your own dictionaries(8 dicts for free). This function is very humane. In my opinion this is the biggest feature of stardict.Another feature of stardict is its web is developed by Ajax.It can display the results in real time.
Everything has two sides, stardict is no exception:it cannot translate sentences. And some expressions are not in it,either.
Add-ons
Add-ons are useful gadgets.Dictionary.com has no add-ons.Maybe it's too powerful to provide some add-ons.Dict.baidu.com also has no add-ons.Maybe it's not professional. The others all have add-ons.
Privately speaking,I recommend google-translate.There are three forms of it.One is google translate button in your bookmark. After you select some words or characters and click on it,there will be a new web page displaying results.Another one is the little gadget embedded in your iGoogle web page.I guess it uses Ajax. It's very convenient if you use iGoogle often. The last one I know is Google Toolbar. It need no clicks by your mouse.
Dict.cn and dict.iciba.com both have similar add-ons to Google Toolbar.Dict.cn's add-ons are for free while iciba's charge. If I were the user I would refuse to use iciba add-ons.
Stardict uses totally different form. Its add-ons use just like Google search box on the top of the browser. It's also for free unlike the disgusting iciba.

Above all, every method has its advantages and disadvantages.Which one would you like to use depends on your interests and personal habits.

Free CDs of Ubunbu

It's very nice and humane although the sw packages in it are much less than Fedora and Red Hat.
It's a good idea to us students who have not much money anyway.

Some Linux software sources

yum for Fedora & Red Hat
yast for SuSE
apt-get for Ubuntu
Source management tools can drastically make the software installment and update convenient.
Of course, the precondition is that you have already got some fast souce-sites as follows:
http://www.freshmeat.net
http://freshrpms.net
http://livna.org
(Find some sources in these websites by yourself)
Besides these,there are:
http://linux.tucows.com
http://www.fokus.gmd.de/linux
http://www.LinuxISO.org
For domestic campus network,University of Science and Technology of China is a good one.The net speed is fastest among all the universities in China.Besides this,Shanghai Jiaotong University and Tsinghua University are also OK.
As for public network domestically,I'm not sure.

To make source that its rpm-packages in local disks

Add Disk-based sources
Fist,make a folder,e.g. /media/baserepo.
Then make soft-links from linkers in the folder to all the rpm-docs in CDs.
ln -s /mnt/iso/Fedora/RPMS/*.rpm /media/baserepo
Third, yum install createrepo(in fact createreop is in the CDs)
And,the next step is createrepo /media/baserepo
After this, there will be a new folder named /media/baserepo/repodata and this is just the data-source document of yum.
Finally edit yum:add sentences bellow.

[local_base]
name=iso
baseurl=file:///media/baserepo
enabled=1

My First Blog

Starting writting with a feeling of fresh. It's my first blog.
Just for a test.
