About VMware Installation
During the installation of VMware,it asked like this:
"What is the location of the directory of C header files that match your running
kernel? "I have installed VMware in my computer before but unfortunately I forgot how to resolve it.
Choosing the default directory,it said"The path "/usr/src/linux/include" is not an existing directory".
I find directory "include" and none of the results worked.
I thought that "vmware-any-any-update" patch can resolve although I've never used before, but it can't.
Searching on the Internet,I installed "kernel-sources" and "kernel-headers",but it said:
"the path "/usr/src/linux/include" is an existing directory ,but it does not c a "linux" subdirectory as expected."
I was very gloomy.
At last,a root-mate told me that "kernel-devel" should be installed. Then the next day I tried and succeeded just using the default directory.VMware Workstation could be started.
After that,I search for the default directory.To my surprise,there wasn't a directory named "***".
However,"/lib/modules/2.6.23.1-21.fc7/build" and /usr/src/kernels/2.6.23.1-21.fc7-i686 did exist.
I guess that VMware installation program need to compile something. So it need to use C libraries and it is just in a directory called "include".So you need to install kernel development tools.Maybe if kernel development tools were chosen when the operation system installation, there wouldn't be such a problem.
